Well, well. It’s been a while since I’ve actually sat down and written a more personal post on here, but that’s because there have been a bunch of things going on recently that have taken up most of my time and energy. Some good, and some bad.
Since I’ve been getting questions on Instagram, here is a little update post on what’s been going on in my life.
Ok, so the good news first….we’re MOVING! And not just down the block, we’re moving all the way across the country to sunny Los Angeles, California! For many people, living in sunny California seems like the dream place to live. Saying this though, if this is a goal of yours that you are wanting to fulfill one day, it may be worth doing some research and browse Rolling Hills real estate, for example, to hopefully find a place of your dreams!
(Please note, this was not an impulsive reaction to the April snowstorm we just had on the East Coast, but it was pretty good timing if you ask me…haha)
Now, while some girls might be totally stoked about the prospect of moving to someplace so exciting, the thought of this has taken me some time for me to get used to. Because if you know me, you know that I’m very close with my family and have never lived more than an hour away at any given time. So there was an adjustment period I went through in which I had to fully digest this information myself and get over my fears, which is why I haven’t really been sharing much with my audience thus far.
I am definitely NOT one of those people who embraces change well, and this is just my way of processing it, learning to accept it, and moving forward.
Wow, so deep.
Anyway, my boyfriend’s job relocated him to their LA office, so I really didn’t have much of a choice. Another reason I had acceptance issues. Me not being in charge of my own decisions? Eeek. Queue the anxiety.
And although LA is a place I’m very familiar with, have visited many, many times and have ALWAYS wanted to live there, it’s quite different when the situation is actually placed in front of you. Anyone else feel me on this or am I alone here??
But anyway, I am now embracing the opportunity and I am really excited to see what life is like in 365 days of sunshine!
So, now the bad news. We were supposed to be moved out by mid-January, but my boyfriend developed this debilitating back injury, that he ended up needing surgery to fix. He went through several rounds of shots and therapy to see if it would help, but nothing even made a dent in the pain he was experiencing, so spine surgery was the only answer. It can be a big decision deciding whether or not to undergo spine surgery. When he was facing the decision, one of his friends told him to try and get in contact with an orthopedic surgeon to try and learn more about spinal surgeries. This probably helped him to make his final decision to have the surgery.
During this time, he was unable to walk, sit, or stand for longer than 2 seconds without excruciating pain down his sciatic nerve and back. So I’ve been by his side helping him for the past few weeks, all while trying to pack up an entire house worth of stuff, find a house in LA, coordinate the moving company, and schedule doctor’s appointments (both his and mine — I also had to get in all my doctor’s appointments before I left…God knows how long it will take me to find new doctors I like, ugh).
So with all of this going on, the blog has been put on the back burner for a few weeks. BUT I am so excited to have tons of fresh content to show you guys, including home decor which has become my newest obsession.
I’ve literally spent hours browsing websites for the perfect pieces for our new home, and although it’s driving me crazy to have to choose between all of them, I think it will be a fun new project. Of course, I will be showing you all the progress right here! Be sure to follow along on Instagram if you aren’t already.
So stay tuned for all the moving updates, a house tour, and more Southern California lifestyle content coming your way in the next few weeks.
Until then, peace out East Coast, I’ll see ya on the flipside!
