How to Wear a Statement Coat

Happy New Year, everyone!  Is it too late to say that?!

I took a few days off of social media over the holidays in order to spend some time with family & friends…But now I’m back!

And since it’s finally become winter here in NYC and the temps are freezing, I need to make sure to bundle up when I walk down the street. So, the question becomes, “How can I look cute and stylish without freezing my buns off?” I want need to be warm, but still want to look fashionable!

A statement coat is the perfect wardrobe item that achieves both.  It allows you to showcase your signature style, while staying warm and toasty underneath.  A win/win!

I mean, yes, there are still those days when the temps dip into the single digits and all I want to do is pile on 174352 layers and walk around like a giant Pillsbury dough boy.  On those blustery days I give you permission to say “I simply cannot afford to lose any fingers to fashion frostbite!”

(BUT with that being said, I am planning on covering “How to Look Stylish During a Polar Vortex” in a future post – So don’t you worry!).

But since it’s been a relatively mild winter so far, today I am showing you how to wear a statement coat.  This blue fur number was literally sold out before I even got it home, so unfortunately, I am not able to link this exact one (wahhh- I hate when that happens!).

When you feel like looking chic even in cold temps, here are a few of my current faves:

My shoes are Circus by Sam Edelman, one of my favorite boho chic brands. (I totally need these Rosé all Day shoes for summer!)

The jeans I’m wearing are my go-to Topshop jeans from Nordstrom.  You should check out their site right now because some select styles are up to 50% off! (such as these jeans that I wore in this post).

My super cute single strap purse I fortunately/unfortunately found at my local TJ Maxx!  It’s by a brand called Lionel which I’ve mentioned before in a previous post…All of their styles are so amazing, but I cannot seem to find any of their products online.  So if you know of any stores that sell them online let me know and I can link them.

So, I hope everyone enjoyed their holiday break and you were able to spend some quality time with family & friends.

And now, it’s only 6 more months til summer! 🙂
