Happy Wednesday! I hope everyone is having a great week so far. Now we just have to survive 2 more days til’ Friday… 🙂
One of the big trends I’ve been seeing a ton of lately is the duster sweater. A duster sweater is basically just a long cardigan. They are super versatile and there are are so many ways you can wear them. And they pair as easily with an edgy street style look as with a more feminine & flowy bohemian style, too.
I’ve paired my duster sweater with this super comfy lace-up front dress (similar) and some lug-sole heeled combat boots. The boots I just purchased in-store last week and apparently they aren’t online yet, so I’ve linked a similar pair here. As soon as this exact style goes up on the store’s website I will be sure to update the link for you.
I accessorized the look with a knit beanie that I found in the Forever 21 sale bins for only $1.99 (lol) and a fringed mini-backpack. The hat and backpack are currently sold out so I’ve linked some similar items here and here ( on sale).
And, I promise you guys, I did steam this dress before I left, but it seems to have gotten extremely wrinkled while in transit. *sigh*

A few tips on how to wear a duster sweater:
Length
Ideally, the length of your duster sweater should fall anywhere from just past your knee to your ankle. However, I always try to buy one that falls more towards my ankle. Because the longer the sweater length the longer silhouette it creates, making you look taller and slimmer.
Size & Fit
Try to purchase a duster sweater that is fitted in the arms and waistline. Unless you’re 6 feet tall and have a body like Gigi, it’s hard to pull off the “oversized” baggy look (in my opinion). Wearing a fitted piece will also help cinch in the waist and create an overall slimmer silhouette.
Color & Tones
Stick to neutral tones when buying a duster sweater. Colors like grey, black, nude, or camel make great wardrobe staples that will work with a variety of looks throughout many different seasons and many different weather conditions.
Texture
Try to find a duster sweater that does not have a bulky texture to the fabric. Wearing a thick fabric means adding more bulk to your frame, making you appear larger than you actually are. Go for fabrics that are thinner and that flow and drape well on the body.
How to Style It
Pair your duster sweater with streamlined pieces underneath, never something oversized or baggy. They work well with tight leggings or jeans and a fitted top. Or you can emulate my look and pair it with a shorter length dress and boots. Duster sweaters also work great in the Spring with some denim cutoffs and a tee underneath. Or even wear one in the Summer over your bikini when the ocean breeze gets a bit chilly.
There are so many different ways duster sweaters can be worn, so I’ve included a few more examples below.
