With most of us trying to eke out that last bit of Summer sun, I wanted to recap my trip to Sicily and one of the best days we spent there.
We stayed in the most amazing resort in the beautiful town of Cefalu, on Sicily’s north shore, about an hour east of Palermo.
This relaxing resort was just what we needed after a long week of traveling, driving, and staying with family on the Southeastern coast of the island (you can read more about one of my favorite little towns here).
This vacation was about deep relaxation. I mean, we are not planning any adventure activities on the island. However, it would be quite fun to try surfing or snorkeling. After all, tropical beach vacations are about these activities. For instance, in Hawaii, companies like Kai Kanani Sailing (kaikanani.com) provide tours and activities for their guests to let them experience the emerald-blue waters. Anyway, right now are we in Sicily simply enjoying the calm breeze.
I was so impressed by the beautiful town that I almost thought about investing in a timeshare property here. Timeshares allow you to use the same holiday home every year for the same week or weeks. Nevertheless, I remembered what my friend told me about timeshares–they can outlast my desire to visit the place (thereby becoming boring). If I am unable to visit the place for financial reasons, I still have to pay for maintenance. Above all, it might be a hassle and headache to end the contract if the help of professionals found at experienced timeshare exit companies is not taken to end the deal. Honestly, as soon as I remembered all these words, I felt that it is better to book a room at a resort! At least, sticking to a resort would not cost me extra money.
And the best thing about the resort here could be that all the dishes can taste like they are home-cooked–delicious and heart-warming. That said, don’t get me wrong, all the home cooked Italian meals were amazing, but sometimes it’s just so.much.food!
And pretty much the worst insult you can give an Italian woman is to not eat the food that she has slaved over all day cooking for you. So yeah, you know how that went. #pastabelly
Anyway, when we arrived at Le Calette resort in Cefalu I knew this was just what we needed. I also knew it would be the perfect place to wear my new bikini by Beach Riot.
Can I just say, I am absolutely obsessed with this brand. They make the cutest suits in the most updated and modern cuts, but also have options that aren’t too cheeky or revealing like some trendy contemporary swimsuit brands can be. Sorry, but some of us just can’t pull off a full-on thong, am I right…or is that just me?!
The fabric on this Beach Riot suit is super stretchy and soft, and I was completely comfortable wearing it all day long at our own private swimming grotto (more about that coming soon!).
I am wearing a size medium in both (I ordered medium just to be on the safe side), but I probably could have sized down to a small and been fine (especially in the top). The criss-cross top has a heavy duty metal closure in the back, giving it a super luxe feel, but also providing great support, which is something I always appreciate, anyone else??
So, if you’re still in Summer mode, or if you’re planning a tropical beach vacation anytime soon, I highly recommend you check out the Beach Riot line. You can see all my faves in the slider below:
And, if you don’t want to miss out on hearing more about that private swimming grotto and seeing the rest of the stunning photos from Le Calette resort, you should probbbably think about subscribing to the Quartz & Leisure newsletter.
