5 Trends Spotted at NYFW (S/S 2019)

NYFW Trends SS 2019

So…no, I did not actually attend NYFW this season. Am I a little sad? Yes. But mostly because September is my favorite month in New York City (besides December/Christmas of course, which is simply magical AF), and I just hate missing out on not being there in general.

September usually boasts the most perfect weather, warm and sunny during the day, with just a hint of crisp air when the sun goes down. It’s also the US Open (big tennis fan here!) and I’ve been going to that for as many years as I can remember, so it was sad not being there for that.

I know most of these might sound like ridiculous reasons, but it’s more of the feelings associated with it than the actual physical thing/activity itself. Does that make any sense??

Anyway, thank goodness for that thing called the internet. I’ve learned that you can pretty much live stream any of the #NYFW shows you want to see straight into your living room. And although you won’t get the same creative energy and buzzy vibe as being there in person, it’s the next best thing. (Click here for why I think even small bloggers should attend NYFW at least once!)

So, here are my top take aways from what I “saw” on the runways this season:

Leopard Print

I just have to say, this movement has been a long time coming and I am completely here for it. NYFW showed us animal prints in the form of dresses, tops, shoes, bags, accessories, and pretty much everything. I think it’s safe to say leopard can be worn as a neutral now, am I right? It can literally be paired with any other color and look amazing.

Snakeskin

Ok, yes, I technically could have included this in the animal print category. But I feel it’s too strong of a trend all on it’s own and I think it deserves it’s own category, kk?

Western Wear

Not completely sure how I feel about this trend, but I could see myself working touches of it here or there into my outfits. For example, cowboy boots with a dress or pointy collared shirts with contrast piping. Or fringe. Give me all the fringe!

Blazers

This trend was huge throughout the week, and I saw it styled in so many different ways. There are endless ways to style this look…dressier with a silk blazer and heels, or more of an athleisure look with a bomber jacket and dad sneakers. And many times the blazers were worn simply with jeans or cutoffs. I will totally be rocking this trend veryyy soon.

Emerald Green

If there is one color that stood out to me this season it’s emerald green. Dare I say that emerald green may be the millennial pink of 2017/2018? Ok yeah, you’re right. It most likely won’t be as popular as millenial pink is (was?), but definitely keep an eye out for pops of it in upcoming seasons.
