Happy Wednesday, everyone!

Today I’m going to be talking about a trend that’s come to the forefront of style these days: NEUTRALS.

Neutrals can be classified as anything white, cream, taupe, beige, brown, gray, tan…you get the picture. Basically, anything that’s muted and doesn’t contain any discernible amount of “color”.  Neutrals can be paired with most other colors, or no color at all, and still give a polished look.

But, just because these colors fall at the unsaturated end of the color spectrum doesn’t mean they have to be uninspiring!

Here are some tips to keep your neutral outfits anything but boring:

Metallics

Some of the richest neutrals that are often forgotten about can be found in the periodic table…silver and gold!  Add a pop of metallic to your neutral outfit to spark interest and draw the eye’s attention, just as I did with my metallic gold skirt. PS – My skirt is only $16 and also comes in silver so get it while it’s hot!

Texture

You should always choose at least one piece in your neutral look with a bit of texture.  For example, in the above pictures I paired my look with a textured sweater that has an eyelash fur panel at the shoulders and neck.  The play between the knit fabric and the fur brings some interest to an otherwise basic gray sweater.

(Note: I recently bought the Vince Camuto sweater I’m wearing at my local TJ Maxx.  They normally have sweaters by this brand available for purchase online, but I can’t find this one anywhere! I hate when that happens, as I always try to provide you guys with easy shopping solutions.  So, please forgive me on this one.  Next time I’ll look before I buy! They did have tons in store though, so if you really want one go check out your local TJ’s!)

Footwear

You can also try pairing your neutral look with a statement shoe.  I chose an OTK boot in taupe, but you can wear any style that you feel gives your look a bit of interest.  Maybe a nude bootie with a metallic heel.  Or a strappy lace up sandal with a ribbon that will pique visual interest.

You can also pair your neutral look with statement stockings or socks as I’ve done with these nude fishnets.

Accessories

You can add interest to your look by accessorizing with scarves, jewelry, hats & sunglasses. My round sunnies with the white border really make this look pop.  You can shop all of my favorite neutral accessories in the slider below.
