Now that Summer is in full swing I wanted to talk about easy ways to add more color into your wardrobe. Because, according to my Instagram feed over the Fall and Winter months, all I wore is grey, light pink, blue stripes & black (lol)…which actually couldn’t be further from the truth!
I actually love color and bold prints, but I feel like they’ve been pushed aside in past seasons in favor of more subdued colors and minimalist prints. Which I didn’t mind because it was actually a refreshing change of pace for me.
But now the sun is shining, the flowers are blooming, and color is in full effect everywhere you look. So I am giving you a few tips to add color back into your wardrobe, should you have also fallen into a muted color palette this Winter.

Color & Denim
An easy way to add some color to your wardrobe is to pair a colorful top with a neutral bottom. My go-to bottom for the Summer months is a great pair of denim cutoffs, of course. And I’m sure most girls would also agree!
Pretty much any color top will pair great with denim shorts, so feel free to play with bright colors or patterns here. My shorts are under $20 and come in 3 different denim washes, so click here if you’d like to check them out.
You can also shop my colorful lace up top here (it comes in 6 other colors – I also have it in black and light pink, too!) or check out some more of my favorites in the slider below. My top is currently on sale for under $20 (the red and white colors are only $14.99!) but sizes are selling out very quickly, so if you like it, click on over!
Is it just me or do you wear way more jewelry in the Summer than in the Winter? I’m pretty sure it’s because we tend to show a lot more skin in the Summertime. You know, when every inch of us isn’t covered up by long sleeves, a scarf, or a turtleneck sweater!
Adding statement jewelry is an easy way to add color to a neutral look or dress up an otherwise casual outfit.
Ahh, give me all the colorful shoes! Especially anything with pom-poms, lace ups, or tassel details. The pom pom sandal trend started last Summer, but I don’t think it’s going anywhere for a while, so get ready to strap on those pom poms this Summer, ladies.
You can also opt for a colorful wedge sandal, which is super versatile and can be worn with pretty much any look this Summer. I’ve chosen a few of my favorite wedges in the slider below:
I do love me some Summer scarves. The best part about scarves is how versatile they can be (and for this reason I always have a couple of scarves in my suitcase when travelling!) They can be worn in a traditional way around the neck, but also tied around your wrist, around your waist as a belt, or around your hair to keep it from flying in your face during those Vespa rides you’ll be taking around Paris this summer.
Although a somewhat overlooked accessory, sunglasses are a great way to add a flash of color into your outfit without being too bold. A pair of colored mirror lenses or a pair of tinted lenses (so chic right now!) would both work equally well to throw some shade on your peepers and some color into your look.
