Where to Buy Cheap Couches (That are Still Cute & Comfy!)

As most of you know by now, it was the biggest struggle finding a couch for our new place once we got out to LA. We both had to agree on a style, a color, a fabric, and a firmness. The good thing is that we knew we both wanted a chaise on one side, and we had an odd size space to work with, so that size constraint narrowed it down quite a bit.

BUT, we still must’ve sat on about 200 couches before finding the one.

Oh, yeah, that was the other requirement, we had to be able to see it in person and do the “sit test” to make sure it was comfortable, so that meant no online purchases. The horror.

Anyway, I am still putting the finishing touches on our home decor, and as soon as it’s finished I promise I will do a virtual tour.

But for now, I am going to attempt to make your quest for a couch a bit easier by rounding up all of the places we tried (plus a few others!). I’m also choosing a few of my faves from each store for you to check out. Make sure to scroll through each slider below to see all my favorites on where to buy cheap couches that are still cute & comfy!

Wayfair

Ok, Wayfair has the biggest selection of couches EVER…and pretty much all furniture, really! If you can’t find it at Wayfair, it’s possible it doesn’t exist. They also offer free shipping & returns, so that’s a bonus as well. It was hard to narrow it down, but here are a few of my faves.

Walmart

Ok, I don’t care what anyone says. You should never be too good to shop at Walmart! They have some incredible deals, and their styles are surprisingly chic! Walmart should never be overlooked when figuring out where to buy cheap couches!

Cost Plus World Market

One of my favorite stores for boho chic, yet modern, decor and furnishings. I recently discovered this store after moving to LA, as we don’t have them on the East Coast…such a shame because now I’m obsessed with literally everything.

West Elm

West Elm is a classic furniture store and their pieces are well built. The trade off is the price and they tend to be a bit higher priced than other stores.

Urban Outfitters

Urban Outfitters has the most trendy, colorful, and boho chic furniture. I love their eclectic selection, and you can also score items on sale if you time your purchase just right!

Target

Target, as always, has a great selection of modern couches, and generally for a very affordable price. They also have a wide range of styles and sizes so there is sure to be something for everyone. I mean, it IS Target, so this shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone! Target is a great place to buy cheap couches.

Macy’s

Macy’s wouldn’t have popped up at the top of my mind for modern furniture, but they have a surprisingly good selection! (My mom is the one who suggested we look there. Moms are always right.) Plus, they almost always have sales and coupon codes available so you can score an even better price. Another plus is that Macy’s furniture is pretty well made and will stand the test of time.

Joss & Main

Joss & Main features a huge selection of couches at extremely affordable prices. Most are under $1000, and can you guess which one of my picks is only $239?! What a great place to browse for cheap couches that are still on trend and comfy, too!

Lulu & Georgia

Oh my, Lulu & Georgia, how do I love thee? The cutest, most classic chic pieces in all the right colors & fabrics. Think pink velvet tufted panels and feathery soft cushions. If you’re looking for glamorous elegance, this is the place to try!

One Kings Lane

On the other end of the pricing spectrum we have One Kings Lane. *Warning* Their prices are not for the faint of heart, so this shop is probably best if you’re not on a tight budget (or any budget really, ha). Ever wonder what a $30,000 couch looks like? Scroll through and see if you can guess which one it is!
